Amanda Brown & So Wylie go from Concrete to Sand with ‘Amazing’ Remix

When Amanda Brown starts singing, there’s absolutely nobody that can be left feeling indifferent. She possesses a truly special voice and all of the talent and experience required to put it to good use, and there is no one -not even those who might not necessarily like her- who will not say that she is a terrific singer. Today, Amanda is releasing an amazing remix of her latest single “Amazing” created alongside fellow New Yorker So Wylie.

To those who’ve yet to listen to her, the greatest endorsement for Amanda Brown might not even come from critics, but from well-established artists who have been wowed by her prowess. Amanda has provided backup vocals for living musical Icons like Stevie Wonder, Adele, Alicia Keys, Michael Bolton, and more. She’s sung for Tyler The Creator’s IGOR and between 2018 and 2019 she toured alongside The Killers as a support artist while promoting her debut album “Dirty Water”.

Amanda was born and raised in the Bronx and proudly represents her mixed Puertorican and Jamaican heritage. She first began singing at church at the age of six, this would give her a strong Gospel background that has a tendency to pop up in her sound to this day. At the age of 12, she auditioned for the prestigious New York Fiorello H. LaGuardia High School of Music & Art and Performing Arts. Amanda’s two biggest breaks would perhaps come in 2007 when she toured the world as a backup singer for Alicia keys on her “As I Am Tour”, and later in 2012 when she joined the pool of contestants on the Third season of NBC’s ‘The Voice, becoming a fan favourite and receiving widespread acclaim after a memorable performance of Aerosmith’s ‘Dream On’.

On the other hand, So Wylie is an incredibly prolific and talented producer, composer, and sound designer based in New York who musically scores all that the light touches, with her work cropping up everywhere from podcasts to films. She’s well renowned for having produced and written music for artists such as Camille Trust and Shilo Gold. Her work with Found Objects Productions has been prominently used in commercial campaigns for brands such as Spotify, Reebok, The Cut, The Wall Street Journal, and Cloak.

‘Amazing’ is all about that feeling of incoming positive change, of new ventures and new horizons that come after struggle and hard work, like a shining beacon towards the future, with Amanda herself saying “I took a chance on myself and was met with the very things I sought after. It’s a song about love, loss, faith, and joy all wrapped up in a fun alternative pop bow”- So Wylie’s remix takes a kaleidoscopic look at the most exhilarating aspects of this song and elevates the euphoric factor tenfold through breezy and glittery EDM textures and an electrifying beat, the song, of course, narrates Amanda’s Move from her hometown to the sunny west coast, singing about going from “concrete to sand” and envisioning herself driving up to the legendary Laurel Canyon in L.A. to let these new skies seep into her sound. So Wylie perfectly captured the perpetual summer vibe of the city and leaned into it with her remix. The original version of this song was one of the last that Amanda Brown would write for an upcoming EP set to be released later this year. It was co-written with Somme and produced by Kenny Carkeet, a former AWOLNATION member.
