ART: VIN + OMI

#LondonFashionWeek – Sustainability can be a very dull subject. At VIN + OMI the colorful design duo are trying to make planet saving solutions creative and engaging. Revealing a theatrically bonkers runway show at The Dorchester in London on February 17th with an emphasis on presenting sustainability as ART.

The press release reads “feel free to shout and scream, it’s that kind of show.” and shout and scream they did. Cheers, yells, whistles, claps, finger snaps and warrior calls serenaded the diversely individual models. The word model feels lacklustre when describing the V+O army. Here ate Kaltblut, we prefer to use the term characters, as each one is truly unique with a stand alone story told through the art they adorned.

Introducing the world’s very first dress made completely out of chestnut leather, developing a method of fusing chestnut pulp together to make a durable, waterproof plant leather. Fully organic and free of toxic chemicals.

Continuing their on-going collaboration with HRH Prince of Wales to utilise waste in providing sustainable solutions to waste management. Willow rods pruned from the Highgrove estate have been processed into textile, plant pots have been crafted into jewellery and VIN + OMI Nettle fabric made from nettles. Their on-going collaboration with Jagermeister also featured an outfit made from recycled promotional material.

VIN + OMI understood the assignment. Sustainability is definitely not dull.
