AVENIR Autumn/Winter 2024 – SWEAT

During Berlin Fashion Week, a standout star ascended: Avenir’s SWEAT collection, a forward-thinking odyssey through the terra incognita of fashion’s future. Weaving a tale where global warming is not just a distant threat but a present muse, Avenir — Sophie Claussen’s brainchild and Berlin’s epitome of circular fashion innovation since 2020 — rocked the runways. We at KALTBLUT Magazine cannot get enough; we’re utterly smitten with every thread and thought in this collection, bar none.

The Autumn/Winter 2024 assortment by Avenir is a masterclass in slow fashion’s potential, reimagining pre-loved fabric wonders into bespoke tales of tailors. Among these, denim is no longer a humble fabric but a herald of change, metamorphosed into bomber jackets with history, while knits and coats become canvases of bespoke novelty. Techniques like boroboro not only salvage but also elevate, making distress aesthetically arresting.

Every piece in SWEAT speaks volumes, a visceral symphony of layering akin to “Zwiebellagen Look”, which is both a sartorial statement and a semaphore of our times. The ensemble parades from vulnerability to empowerment, a stylized map of the climate crisis and a siren call for stewardship.

Ensuring that the journey is as mesmerizing visually as it is ethically, Studio Lilo’s breathtaking installation, a pastiche of floristry’s castaways, merged with Avenir in a covenant of sustainability. Such commitment pervaded every aspect of SWEAT’s presentation; it was not just a fashion show but an environmental manifesto.

Catching the eye of more than the usual suspects, SWEAT drew a crowd of 250 across the spectrums of society and professionalism, from local style authorities and entrepreneurial minds to the it-crowd of influencers and journalism. Each left with more than admiration – a spark to ignite conversations in both the hallways of fashion and the arenas of climate action. Indeed, Sophie Claussen and Avenir not only snagged the Bunte New Faces Young Fashion Designer accolade in 2022, but they captured our hearts and imaginations during what has been, indisputably, one of the best collections at Berlin Fashion Week in years.
