Axel Arigato Unveils Eris: A New Sneaker Celebrating Individuality and Creative Expression

Axel Arigato has launched ERIS, a new unisex sneaker that speaks to the essence of individuality and creative self-expression. Positioned as the brand’s flagship sneaker of the year, ERIS follows the recent releases of the Slow and Tact runners, marking a decade of evolving design that culminates in this innovative silhouette. The name ERIS symbolises a lifestyle choice for those who embrace a unique style without the constraints of convention.

Designed for the culturally curious and creatively motivated global citizen, ERIS showcases Axel Arigato’s artistic vision in both form and fabric. The mid-profile silhouette features interlocking suede panels that create a fluid, sculptural effect, hand-distressed to ensure each pair possesses its own distinct character. The sneaker highlights include tonal stitching, contrasting nylon ribbing, and a debossed sandpaper print that accentuates its shape and texture. Dipped laces weave through a double tongue featuring a branded gel bubble, with subtle Axel Arigato logos embossed on the toe box and sole unit. The sole, a craftsmanship statement, is an effortless blend of two outsoles, designed to appear as a singular melting form.

In a departure from the youthful energy often celebrated in previous sneaker campaigns, Creative Director Jens Werner captures a more mature, tenacious essence within the ERIS launch. The debut colourways are inspired by three female musicians, each renowned for their experimental and boundary-pushing musical styles. The colour yellow, represented by Dutch-English artist Bea, reflects her atmospheric and emotionally resonant sound characterised by unconventional song structures. Charcoal pays homage to Camille Jansen, a Parisian musician and model whose acoustic, percussive tracks tell of resilience and self-discovery. Lastly, the colour blue is embodied by American artist Ana Roxanne, whose immersive compositions explore personal and universal narratives through layered vocals and analogue synthesisers.

The ERIS campaign is brought to life by female creatives, including photographer Georgia Davey Smith and Motion Director Juana Wein. Their moody, modern aesthetics seamlessly align with the storytelling behind ERIS, inviting the audience to explore the ‘psychological green room’ of the featured musicians—a space often hidden from view. Through a series of dream-like vignettes, viewers are treated to glimpses of preparation, ritual, and performance, capturing the beautiful, candid moments that form the layered portrait of the Eris Woman: raw, unfiltered, and empowered.

The three debut colourways – charcoal, yellow and blue – are available in all Axel Arigato stores and priced at €330 / £310 / $435. A second drop with men’s sizing and new colourways will debut on June 11th.
