Backstage at COTTWEILER Autumn/Winter 2019 – CRUISE CONTROL

#LFW – Cottweiler design duo Ben Cotrell and Matthew Dainty take us down a wild and sordid trip to the woods for AW19 as they push for a more authentic take on masculinity injecting a raw versatility into a layered and functional collection of luxury, inspired streetwear.

Presented 12 floors underground against a backdrop of flashing car headlights and lichen covered urinals the collection featured zero tailoring in sight as sunglasses, baseball caps and riding gloves complimented the athletic ensembles, hiding the model’s identities and illustrating the escapism it provides.

A colour palette that reflected adventure and activity with moss and rainforest greens, inkjet-cobalt blues and monochrome black and whites, keeping things cool but contemporary. They also sported several collaborations, a sneaker-loafer with Reebok (which was both ugly yet oddly enchanting, so wrong its kinda right), a coat and jacket partnership with Allergi and a team-up with Mercedes AMG.

All in all a great mix of retro sports pieces mixed effortlessly with current streetwear trends given a high-end update packed full of function and finesse. Formula 1 never looked so sophisticated.
