Emerging from the creative heartbeat of Berlin, Ergot made a striking debut during Berlin Fashion Week with its inaugural collection entitled LOOP. This collection explores a profound theme of destruction and rebirth, encapsulating the cyclical nature of life through a powerful sartorial narrative.
Accompanying the show’s narrative, photographer Shin Jeong Hoon captured the backstage atmosphere, providing an intimate glimpse into the behind-the-scenes moments that brought LOOP to life. At the heart of LOOP lies a poignant reflection on the aftermath of a natural disaster. The collection serves as a reminder of fragility and how a single event can shatter lives and dreams. Yet, amid feelings of loss and despair, it presents an inherent strength: the resilience of survivors who must find hope in the rubble.

The fashion show is meticulously crafted into three scenes: Destruction, Grief, and Rebirth. Each scene showcases a unique aspect of this emotional journey through a total of ten distinctive outfits.
FIRST SCENE: Destruction
The show opens dramatically as the audience witnesses the visual chaos of an earthquake. A building is simulated to collapse on stage, complete with flashing lights and the haunting sounds of devastation resonating through the venue. The first three outfits—evocative of broken buildings and fractured roads, offer haunting commentary. A model, wrapped in caution tape, vividly represents the aftermath of disaster, reminiscent of spaces rendered inaccessible to those mourning their lost homes.
SECOND SCENE: Grief
Transitioning into the second scene, we observe rescuers—a worker and a doctor, navigating the complexities of survival and loss. An enigmatic presence emerges, a puppeteer embodying the dichotomy of life and death. Performing with a bouquet of dried roses, her actions evoke a sense of mourning as she crushes the petals, symbolizing the heavy grief that blankets the aftermath of destruction.
THIRD SCENE: Rebirth
The final scene heralds a transformative moment. A lone figure steps onto the runway in a damp black jacket, embodying the resilience of humanity in the face of adversity. The soundtrack shifts from the pitter-patter of rain to the gentle chirping of birds, heralding hope. As he lifts a solitary rose, the entrance of Mother Nature signifies the potential for healing amidst chaos. We see a blind character casually engaged in modernity, conversing about parties, while a woman joining him reflects on the fragility of relationships, hinting at the promise of renewal.
Yet, just as hope takes root, the unsettling sounds of another earthquake resurface, reminding us that the cycle of destruction and rebirth is always imminent. Ergot’s debut poignantly underscores the beauty found in resilience, making a statement that’s both haunting and hopeful as it navigates the complexities of human experience.
