For years, they have been the beating heart, the subcultural anchor, and the fierce protectors of real local talent in this city. While the political sphere talked in circles about supporting creatives, PLATTE Berlin was on the ground doing the actual work. Now, a massive victory has arrived. On June 18, 2026, the Senate Department for Economic Affairs and the District Office of Berlin-Mitte joined forces with them to unveil FASHION BLOCK, a brand-new, dedicated creative hub right at Alexanderplatz (Memhardstraße 6).

The city should have commercialised and protected creative spaces a decade ago. But it is finally here, and it is a massive milestone for Berlin’s cultural survival.
