Backstage at Kolya Bogatyrev S/S27 – CLASSICAL REMINDER.

For his second runway show within the official program of Berlin Fashion Week, Kolya Bogatyrev delivered an incredibly poignant meditation on time and human connection with his Spring/Summer 2027 collection, titled CLASSICAL REMINDER. The collection doesn’t just look at classical garments; it taps into universal, timeless truths that repeat across generations, serving as a beautiful reminder of the quiet poetry buried inside our everyday lives.

What makes Bogatyrev’s vision so vital is his distinct process of material deconstruction and emotional reconstruction. Taking existing garments, ranging from traditional tailoring, uniforms, and sportswear to everyday eveningwear, the designer dismantles and reassembles them into entirely new silhouettes. Crucially, the original identities of the clothes remain partially visible. The fragments of their previous lives coexist with the new designs, ensuring that history is preserved rather than erased. A shirt ceases to be a mere object; a blazer becomes a physical trace of experience, mirroring the fluid way memory shifts and softens over time.

Throughout the collection, symbols of structure and discipline beautifully collide with gestures of tenderness and vulnerability. Traditional tailoring meets delicate transparency, and rigid uniforms are subverted by handmade details, imperfections, and spontaneous movement. Spanning multiple generations, the casting reinforces this dialogue on the passage of time, rejecting a singular ideal of beauty in favour of the full continuity of life.
