Flower men for Spring, whilst not necessarily ground-breaking, the injection of earthy tones in clay, moss and chocolate brown contrasted with light-hearted and colourful graphic, laser-cut prints, felt like an enjoyable mash-up of menswear genres. In one go, PRONOUNCE portrayed masculinity as youthful yet distinguished, fun yet serious, subtle yet confident and all with a touch of effortless eccentricity. Photography by Karl Slater. Held in St. George’s Church in Bloomsbury, PRONOUNCE SS19 brought us a touch of an urban landscape with a subtle exotic twist as designers Yushan Li and Jun Zhou visually reflected on their trip to Kolkata and more specifically, the Malik Ghat Flower Market . Focusing on personality, textures and tenderness with the use of bright blues, soft purples and neutral pinks standing out instantly against more traditional monochromatic offerings. Whilst crocheted accessories and petal bags, produced in collaboration with MINI, referenced the casual co-existence of opposing ideas within menswear and also, more importantly, masculinity. Bloomin’ brilliant.
