Beatport.io launches with ‘NACHTS’ Portrait & Digital Collectibles Series

Beatport, the renowned global authority in music for DJs, producers, and enthusiasts, has just unveiled Beatport.io, a revolutionary marketplace centered around the future of electronic music. This cutting-edge platform allows artists and record labels to showcase their music and art in innovative, collectible formats. Created in collaboration with Define Creative and based on the Aventus parachain within the Polkadot ecosystem, Beatport.io promises to be a game-changer in the music industry.

The inaugural project featured on Beatport.io is the captivating art series called “NACHTS,” which offers an intimate glimpse into Berlin’s vibrant techno scene. The series, photographed by Mischa Fanghaenel, who has served as a bouncer at the iconic Berghain for over a decade, was crafted in collaboration with esteemed artists from the underground Berlin techno community.

The NACHTS series will be launched in August 2023, beginning with a limited edition drop in partnership with DJ and producer Len Faki. This exclusive release will include a bonus track from his latest album “Fusion,” specially created for this edition. Subsequent editions will follow, featuring talented musicians like Ellen Allien, Âme, Ben Klock, Dixon, DVS1, Freddy K, Gerd Janson, Marcel Fengler, Norman Nodge, Patrick Mason, Roi Perez, Seth Troxler, Kobosil, and many others, set to be released at regular intervals.

To complement the NACHTS series, Mischa Fanghaenel will present an accompanying portrait exhibition during the upcoming Berlin Art Week on September 14, 2023. Interestingly, collectors will have the unique opportunity to use the NFT associated with the artwork as their entry ticket to the exhibition.

“NACHTS” comprises over 175 captivating portraits, combined with music exclusively produced for this project. The combination of these elements serves as the foundation for immersive artworks, generated through advanced AI models. As the music’s rhythm guides the process, Fanghaenel’s portraits dissolve into mesmerizing constructivist patterns, morph into figurative shapes and images, and ultimately converge into breathtaking masterpieces. This exceptional collection becomes a powerful artistic testament to the contemporary techno culture, offering a rare glimpse into this captivating and scarcely documented community.

Reflecting on his work, Mischa Fanghaenel explains, “The NACHTS project began as an idea during the initial lockdown: How could we preserve what we cherished if the Berlin club scene ceased to exist? How could we memorialize this culture? I wanted to document the diverse range of characters that defined this community. Observing the people who shape this culture, I realized the significance of places where everyone can come together and express themselves freely. Through this project, I aim to share the beauty of life and its many dimensions.

To celebrate the launch, a bonus edition of the NACHTS series will be available at no cost via Beatport.io from July 27, 2023. For more information, visit Beatport.io
