Boiler Room announces the initial lineup of artists for the highly anticipated inaugural Berlin edition of its renowned festival series. Following successful events in Amsterdam, London, New York, and Barcelona, this edition will be supported by Absolut, Ballantine’s, Beefeater, Chivas Regal, Havana Club, Jameson, and Martell.
Mark your calendars for November 16th – 18th, 2023, as Belgienhalle in Berlin-Spandau plays host to Boiler Room’s largest event in the city to date. Berlin holds a special place in Boiler Room’s heart, as they made their debut in 2011 with an event held in a disused swimming pool. Since then, they have organized a staggering 170 parties, featured 504 sets, and showcased the talents of 704 artists, making Berlin their second most visited location worldwide.
Boiler Room is partnering with seven spirit brands that share their values, creating a truly immersive and diverse experience over the three days of the festival. With the program being spread across seven stages, attendees can expect a blend of exceptional local talent and an impressive lineup of international artists. This year’s festival will showcase the vibrant scenes and subcultures that Boiler Room has been championing over the past year, featuring both familiar faces and exciting debuts.
One of the highlights of the festival will be the Boiler Room sub-brand, BR X, in partnership with Absolut. This stage will be hosted by the local radio station and community space, Refuge Worldwide, and will feature performances by Bashkka, Call Super, JAXX TMS, Nat Wendell, Natalie Robinson, No Plastic, Octave One (live), and Underground Resistance presents Mark Flash (DJ).
Embracing the power of culture and collaboration, Boiler Room’s SYSTEM stage, in collaboration with Havana Club, will celebrate the sounds of the diaspora. The lineup includes Ahadadream, AZIEZ, Dre Ngozi, Hudson Mohawke B2B Nikki Nair, Interplanetary Criminal B2B Main Phase, Lady Shaka, and salute.
The Rap Fantasy stage, presented by Martell, will push the boundaries of the genre within the experimental club world. Prepare for mind-blowing performances by ABIBA, DÆMON, LSDXOXO, MCR-T B2B Miss Bashful, Meg10, Obongjayar, and Ravyn Lenae.
Boiler Room’s commitment to nurturing emerging talent continues with the Broadcast Lab, powered by Jameson. The grant scheme, dedicated to spotlighting the next generation of broadcasting talent, will provide €12,000 to the winner to bring their innovative idea to life. This year’s recipient is Brussel-based event series, record label, and digital art platform Slagwerk, founded by Otis Dehaes in 2017. Their lineup includes Bambino DJ, Europa, Golin, Money Lang, Nunguja, and Oli XL.
The Third Space stage, presented by Boiler Room and Beefeater, focuses on cross-cultural exchanges. This year, the spotlight falls on Arabic artists such as Azu Tiwaline and Toumba, who will perform back-to-back for the first time. Rappers Bint7alal and Jude Heib, BLTNM label affiliates Mouri and Taymour, and Indonesian duo Gabber Modus Operandi will also grace the stage.
ENERGY, supported by Chivas Regal, will showcase captivating live performances that encapsulate the unique connection between artists and audiences. Get ready for electrifying sets by Arthi, Cakes Da Killa, Coco Calypso, George Riley, JADA, Mura Masa, and serpentwithfeet.
True Music Studios, presented by Ballantine’s, is all about propelling music culture forward. This global residency series, curated by Berlin-based DJ, curator, and Einhundert co-founder Nico Adomako, will feature AUCO B2B Neana, DJ Plead B2B rRoxymore, Ehua, Hanaby, Kelman Duran, NAS TEA B2B ROSIE, and Perera Elsewhere.
Finally, Boiler Room introduces a new stage this year, dedicated to the cutting-edge and boundary-pushing sounds of Berlin’s emerging talent. Cryptofauna, Daria Kolosova, DJ Aya, Estella Boersma, horsegiirL, and Riva will take center stage on the festival’s final day.
