“Karmine is made in pain, made in my room, made in Italy”. A KALTBLUT exclusive editorial introducing Photographer, Art Director & Designer Carmine Ferraro. The models are Niccolò Mastracchio, Gigi Fasser, and Marika Tomasi. Styling by India Amato.

Carmine Ferraro was born to a family of creatives, January 16, 2001, in Naples and has worked as a fashion photographer since the age of 15; because of his interest in the Image, he decided to attend the Rome University of Fine Art to enhance the visual perception of the world through photography. Always in continuous stylistic and aesthetic research, he later decides to undertake a new course of study at the Academy of Brescia in Fashion Design 3D.

He treasures his grandfather’s experience in the field of clothing, which began as a simple door-to-door seller of so-called “rags”, and up to the creation of various brands. An artistic legacy handed down from his grandfather to his father, from his father to Carmine, which allowed him to develop in-depth skills in the work that takes place behind the conception, design and creation of a brand. This translates into the goal of creating an idea of his own. Karmine is an experimental, visionary and independent research reality, born from commitment and consistency over time; in this first phase, mainly, Karmine will launch its first Capsule Collection consisting of denim pieces, to express a product that highlights the constant experimentation and research in fabric processing. Karmine is made in pain in my room made in Italy.

“Our capsule collection has a soul: denim. The intense search for fabric quality is our constant mission. Each drape is selected to ensure strength, durability and softness. Our work is not limited to the fabric: each piece is chosen on accurate modeling, to ensure the proper fit adaptable to any body type.

Manual processing is the cornerstone of our production. While, in many cases, the processing and creation of jeans is entrusted to machinery, we believe in the importance of an artisanal approach. Each piece of our collection is carefully crafted by hand, ensuring a level of attention to detail that cannot be replicated by machines and adding a genuine and personal character to it.

For us at Karmine, sustainability is a fundamental value. We have implemented innovative ecological processes, such as the use of technologies with low environmental impact: e-flow, a fabric treatment system that drastically reduces the use of water in the dyeing and washing processes, and ozone, a natural gas used to replace aggressive chemicals in finishing processes.

These technologies allow us to achieve ecological cleaning results and reduce the environmental impact of our production. In addition, the application of eco-friendly resins on our fabrics helps to increase the effectiveness of the laser in finishing processes.

Resins act as binding agents, better fixing the fabric and making it more responsive to laser applications. This means that the details and finishes obtained with the laser are sharper, more durable and more natural, ensuring greater precision and definition in the designs and decorations on the denim.

Finally, we introduced the double stone wash, to accentuate the wear, giving our jeans a lived character. Furthermore, we use the molto technique, which is done by positioning strategical breaks on the joints that outline, again, a natural wear effect.

The capsule collection also expands towards a selection of iconic ponchos and hats, signed with the worn and lived effect that symbolize an identifying sign for our brand. Each piece is the testimony of our care and sacrifice, a work of art that is slowly taking shape.”
