Caelin’s Acoustic Ep “save me from me” Is a Musical Masterpiece Drenched Deep in Raw Emotions

Caelin surprises everyone with a melancholy-infused EP. Featuring five tracks, each track documents her experiences in romantic and platonic relationships, as well as her relationship with herself and her reflections on loneliness and how, like many, her time in isolation resulted in deep reflections on her emotions. Music was the only escape she had during this time of darkness and uncertainty.

Due to her conscious decision to create what she felt was true to herself at the time, this EP has songs that are authentic and intimate. She was able to follow her feelings wherever they took her because of the intimate nature of the writing process. With multiple styles of writing and production, this proves to be one of the strengths of the EP. Caelin‘s strong vocals and vulnerable lyrics are the cohesive element in each of these tracks, despite touching on varying sonic elements.

‘I feel them all, underneath my skin
Those prisoners in my mouth
All the thoughts just itching to get out
Out of mundanity…what good is sanity? If it’s too late
If we can’t escape?’

Analyzing each song more closely. The EP begins with “save me from Me“, a very curious title. The song shows Caelin‘s vocal prowess from the beginning. The lyrics hit close to home “Drowning in a pool of reality“, that’s what life feels like. Then we have “Nobody’s Home” with a bittersweet rhythm and a melancholic yet hopeful message. “back to the Ground” presents a more upbeat sonic landscape, with the same feeling, interpolated with heartfelt lyrics once again.

Next on the list we have “look me in the Eye” Right from the start we are struck with some heart-wrenching lyrics “I think my heartfelt through the floor. I can’t believe I don’t know you anymore“. The chorus chants the title of the song. This one is my favorite and the highlight of the album in my humble opinion. The backing beat provides an excellent backdrop to the lyrics, adding to the song’s emotion. The song builds up to a crescendo with an anthemic chorus, leaving the listener with strong feelings about life and relationships.

The EP concludes with a euphoric burst of sentiment. With a title like “your grave” you know Caelin means business. The song is a powerful display of songwriting craftsmanship, with each element working together in flawless harmony. The powerful lyrics and anthemic chorus combine with the heartfelt backing beat to create a song that leaves a lasting impression on anyone who listens. The whole EP is an impressive showcase of Caelin’s talents. The track builds slowly, beginning with a gentle guitar riff and gradually introducing more elements as the song progresses, culminating in a soaring chorus that will stick in your head long after the track ends. The harmonies and melodies are complex yet accessible, giving the track an almost cinematic quality. The lyrics are nuanced and poetic, with a depth of emotion that is rare in today’s music. Overall, it’s an emotionally charged and powerful track that elevates the entire EP to a new level.

Caelin is making no ripples or waves but a whole tsunami in the music space with her debut EP. “save me from Me” is one of the best things I’ve had the pleasure of listening to this year. The lyrics are deep and relatable, the production is flawless and Caelin‘s voice just seals the deal. It has quickly become one of my favourite EPs.
