Can Pep Rey invites you to a fundraising dinner with Zsuzsanna Toth and Visions For Children

Can Pep Rey are hosting a special dining experience in support of Visions for Children e.V on July 13 at El Berlin. The dining experience is a collaboration with chef and writer, Zsuzsanna Toth, to raise funds for Block Haye Hawayee middle school in Mazar-e-Sharif in Afghanistan, since the school is facing significant challenges.

Despite having 2195 registered students, less than half of them receive their lessons in proper classrooms. Approximately 1300 students are forced to attend classes in the corridors or even outside due to a lack of space with the learning environment marred by high noise levels and extreme temperatures. Many children are unable to attend school at all, as their families face financial hardship and possess limited education. The event therefore aims to raise money to make a change at this school.

KALTBLUT caught up with Paul Conradi and Lea Russ of Can Pep Rey ahead of the dining experience to discuss the evening.

KALTBLUT: Can you tell me a little bit about the concept of Can Pep Rey?

CPR: CAN PEP REY is a house in Ibiza and we see the brand as a house too. It’s a space that is supposed to be open and collaborative. We have a guest room, a kitchen and a living room and we intend to utilise these “rooms” for different ideas such as concerts, dinners and workshops. Our clothing is designed to facilitate this lifestyle; high quality materials produced under good conditions, and simple and easy fits.

KALTBLUT: You’re hosting a dinner with Zsuzsanna Toth. How did that collaboration come about?

CPR: We have been following Zsuzsanna´s work for a while now and have been fascinated with her creative cooking and writing. We were actually supposed to collaborate last year on a dinner in Barcelona but she could not make it in the end. When we started talking to Visions for Children about what we could do together and how we could raise funds we quickly had her in mind again. Zsuzsanna was immediately interested and decided to get involved.

KALTBLUT: You’re aiming to raise 1.200 € for Children e.V.. to build rooms for a school in Afghanistan. Can you tell me a little more about the partnership between Can Pep Rey and the charity?

CPR: For us at CAN PEP REY it has always been important to create a company that aligns with our environmental and social beliefs. During the last few years we collaborated with several project focused charities as we believe they can have a more direct impact. As a small company we are aware that we are not going to be the biggest or strongest monetary donor but that we can create awareness while raising whatever funds we can. Visions for Children has a complicated but important mission that we want to support on the small scale that we can.

KALTBLUT: The money is going to a school in Afghanistan. What should people know about this school and how can they donate?

CPR: The Block Haye Hawayee Middle School in Mazar-e-Sharif currently has 2195 registered students, but not even half of them receive their lessons in classrooms. About 1300 students have to attend classes in the corridors or outside. Lack of space, high temperatures and noise levels make learning extremely difficult. These circumstances mean many students gain little to no skills while others do not even get a place at school. The families are financially weak and have a low level of education. Due to the difficult access to education, children have hardly any chance to escape poverty. Any one can donate directly via the Visions for Children website.

On 13 July, @canpeprey invites you to partake in @zsubidu‘s memorable three-course vegetarian menu, complemented by exquisite natural wines and a performance by @noahslee. Tickets are priced at 75€ and can be purchased here.
