French-born, London-based artist, vocalist and producer COUCOU CHLOE shares the stylishly surreal visual for her new single “DRIFT”, directed by Lee Trigg, taken from her recently announced project “FEVER DREAM”. FEVER DREAM is more impassioned and club-driven than ever, with features ranging from Eartheater, 654AR, Matt OX, Woesum, Brodinski, Tony Seltzer and Kai Whiston. Across FEVER DREAM, COUCOU CHLOE flexes the evolution of her technical prowess and artistic skillset while plunging even deeper into herself, exploring visceral loss, perception of time, twisted romance, and beyond.
First single DRIFT is a slimy bass ballad featuring COUCOU CHLOE’s spectral, strung-out vocals and mesmeric production, building with a pulsating bassline and serrated synths towards a vertiginous climax. DRIFT follows the expertly curated “1” remix project last year which featured Eartheater, COBRAH, CLIP, Kelvin Krash and 2021’s boundary-breaking “ONE” EP.
The inspiration behind the new music/project is life. The more you grow and understand living and the complexities of your emotions, the more you can express that. Almost everything I’ve experienced has become material for me to share.
From the high energy assault of her remix of Lady Gaga’s ‘Stupid Love’ for her Dawn of Chromatica project to the haunting, strung-out, spacious compositions of her early releases, COUCOU CHLOE’s repertoire lives at the dark heart of club music. Her chaotic live performances have seen her annihilate venues across three continents, including Berlin’s infamous Herrensauna in a special A/V capsule for Sonar Festival, supporting Dorian Electra on his UK/EU tour, and most recently an incendiary performance at Wide Awake London and BBK Live at Bilbao. A founding member of the influential NUXXE collective alongside Sega Bodega and Shygirl, COUCOU CHLOE’s work has been lauded by the press and fashion industry internationally, seeing her shot for magazines like Highsnobiety, i-D, the covers of Mixmag, Glamcult and L’Officiel Paris, and collaborate with design houses like Burberry, Prada, Gucci and Lanvin.
