A KALTBLUT exclusive editorial titled Creation of Image, a photographic exploration of beauty as an act of self-construction. Featuring performer Venus Superstar and Lume Worldwide. A Berlin-based queer performer and photographer. The series examines how identity can be authored through fashion, performance and transformation. Rather than positioning beauty as something fixed, the editorial presents it as a deliberate practice: sculpted, performed and exaggerated.
Visually, the work draws from underground performance culture, fetish aesthetics, contemporary beauty imagery and avant-garde fashion photography. Sharp silhouettes, high contrasts and the performers’ signature makeup create a world in which the body becomes sculpture-like. Throughout the series, traditional ideas of masculinity and femininity dissolve into something more fluid and theatrical.
The project features custom-made garments by designer Daan Bootsman, created specifically for the shoot, alongside jewellery and accessories by the Berlin-based brand Perlensau. Together, these pieces function as extensions of the performers themselves: part armour, part ornament, creating their own identity.
