Last week, KALTBLUT was invited to Barcelona for an exclusive test of the stunning new Cupra Raval, a groundbreaking addition to the electric vehicle world. This electrifying launch marks a significant milestone for the Spanish brand as it officially steps into a new era of performance with its first 100% electric urban vehicle.

Cupra’s ambitious world premiere last month spanned across twelve major European cities, culminating in a spectacular cultural event that perfectly encapsulated the brand’s vibrant spirit. The heart of the festivities was the transformation of the iconic Casa Cupra venue into a vibrant homage to the eclectic essence of the neighbourhood that inspired the Raval’s name.

The celebrations reached their zenith with a pulsating public concert at Plaça Catalunya, headlined by the charismatic Nathy Peluso. At the same time, simultaneous performances saw artists like Disiz light up Paris, and Kim Petras captivate Berlin.
The Raval isn’t just a car; it’s a radical reinterpretation of urban mobility, designed to blend compact dynamics with impressive versatility. Built on the cutting-edge MEB+ platform, this vehicle boasts a low-slung silhouette that recalls the athletic lines of performance hatchbacks, yet offers an astonishing 441 litres of boot space. Its striking exterior features a bold “shark nose” front, innovative flush illuminated door handles, and sophisticated Matrix LED headlights that adapt to the driving conditions seamlessly.

One of the standout features of the Raval is its pioneering customisation options, including an iridescent Plasma paint that dramatically shifts colours from cyan to indigo, a visual feast depending on the angle of sunlight. Additional matte finishes like Manganese and Century Bronze can be paired with bi-colour roofs for a truly unique configuration. At the top of this electrifying lineup sits the VZ Extreme edition, embodying the racing spirit of Cupra with a powerful front-wheel-drive powertrain delivering 166kW (226PS) and an exhilarating acceleration time of just 6.8 seconds.

Within its driver-focused cabin, the Raval offers a Smart Light Next Generation setup that creates a dynamic interface, enhancing the driving experience with visual cues triggered during key performance moments. The centrepiece of the cockpit is a robust 12.9-inch infotainment system operating on an intuitive Android OS, complemented by an immersive Sennheiser sound system that envelops passengers in rich acoustics.
Sustainability remains a core value for Cupra; the Raval introduces the ‘AHEAD’ pack, featuring bucket seats crafted from 100% recycled materials through innovative 3D knitting technology, minimising textile waste. With a net energy capacity of 52 kWh, the Raval achieves an impressive maximum range of up to 446 km, all while offering DC fast-charging capabilities that replenish the battery from 10% to 80% in a swift 24 minutes.
The Cupra Raval not only signifies a step into electric performance but also embodies the non-conformist spirit that defines modern urban life.
