“The Fashion System is one of the most desired, celebrated, and idealised worlds. At the same time, it is one of the most closed, elitist, and inaccessible. This project stems from the observation of a deep contradiction: to enter a system that produces luxury, beauty, and imagery, many young creatives are forced to live in conditions of extreme precarity. Unpaid work, endless internships, underpaid jobs, and economic and psychological sacrifices become a silent norm. Only those who already possess economic privilege can afford to “last long enough.”
The shoot stages a figure suspended between a fashion student and a homeless person: bodies dressed in fashion garments, yet marked by lack, exhaustion, and waiting. The homeless figure becomes a symbol, not a stereotype. It does not represent poverty as an aesthetic, but as the consequence of a system that selects through exclusion. The subjects do not appear merely dignified, but present, never victims. Fashion does not save them; it passes through them. This project does not aim to accuse individuals, but to question a system that speaks of inclusivity while demanding invisible sacrifices. A reflection on what it truly costs to belong to a world that promises everything, yet grants very little. Because true luxury today is not the garment. It is being able to dream without destroying yourself.”
