Nyege Nyege announce the long awaited second album from MC Yallah. ‘Yallah Beibe’ is due out April 14th on vinyl & digital via Hakuna Kulala, Nyege Nyege’s dance focused sister label. The announcement arrives with the first single ‘Sikwebela’ on digital streaming platforms together with a video featuring MC Yallah herself rapping through the Ugandan jungle.
Having emerged over the last decade as one of the leading underground MC’s in East Africa, the Kenyan, but Ugandan born and raised Yallah Gaudencia Mbidde released her debut album ‘Kubali’ in 2019. It catapulted her into the spotlight with her addicting flow and assertive intensity that propels Debmaster’s progressive, tense slabs of lo-fi distortion creating a new realm of dance floor energy.
The success of her debut album brought her to tour all over the world with producer Debmaster from Unsound (Poland & Australia), Sonar, Primavera, MELT, Dekmantel, Roskilde, CTM & South America… Now nearly four years later, her follow up album ‘Yallah Beibe’ expresses the exponential growth of the artist, her network, lyrical flow, and collaborative efforts as the album is not only produced by Debmaster but includes features from the Nyege Nyege collective and adjacent such as Congolese Chrisman, Japanese Shigge (aka DJ Scotch Rolex) and guest vocals from Duma’s Lord Spikeheart as well as Ugandan Dancehall sensation Ratigan Era.
