Exclusive Mixtape: DRIIA

DRIIA joins our mixtape series with her high-energy, UKG-inspired sound. Despite being classically trained, DRIIA embarked on a self-navigated journey into electronic music production at just 14. Since then, she has been evolving into the ‘one-woman band’ she is today – responsible for the writing, recording, performance and production of all of her works. During the creative process, DRIIA channels a plethora of influences, from Frederic Chopin to FKA Twigs to The Beach Boys, culminating in her distinctive and unique sound.

This mix exhibits the many faces of UKG. It’s a journey through 2-step, 90s, bassline, speed garage and everything in between – a culmination of all the UKG sub-genres I’ve been exposed to over the last few months. I wanted to demonstrate how UKG has such a distinctive sound whilst absorbing clear influence from different genres and decades. As I fall more and more in love with it, I find Garage music drastically influences my mood. No matter my energy levels it can always get me moving, and I hope this mix does the same for you.
