Faces of Pride by Justin Anantawan

Being a gay photographer capturing the LGBTQ2SIA+ community is not easy. The emotional burden I carry with me, trying to capture love across the full spectrum of the human rainbow while knowing that my work is met with either indifference or disgust by society, can be debilitating.

The resulting depression often prevents me from wanting to show my photography to the world or continue my work. However, when I photograph people from my community and I can connect with them, learn their stories or make them feel beautiful, I remember why I want to share my art.  In this current global climate of increasing hate and discrimination against the LGBTQ2SIA+ community, I believe love and art are the two greatest tools in hopefully changing hearts and minds. I share these photos with you with deep love from the innermost parts of my soul.
Love, Justin A.
