FEDERICO CINA Spring/Summer 2022 collection – Infanzia A-mare

Melancholy full of thoughts, childhood memories, summer serenity: a maritime atmosphere that anyone has experienced in his life at least once. And now, years and years later, remember it with a smile. Federico Cina presents the new spring/summer 2022 collection inspired by the photographic book “Addio Colonia” by Luigi Tazzari, a photographer based in the Romagna region. “Infanzia A-mare” takes as its basis an intimate and personal wish for remembering the designer’s childhood spent by Romagna seaside and its summer camps, now abandoned.

“I remember the days spent at the seaside when I was a child. My Romagna was also the smell of sun cream, the salty air and the Garbino that gently caressed my shoulders.

The minibus used to pick me up at dawn and then drive through the countryside to finally reach the sea.

I remember the walls inside the summer camps that used to tell stories of romance and friendships suspended between the past and an eternally present time.”

Thanks to the simplicity and humanity of the places eternalized in the pictures by Tazzari, Federico Cina relives his childhood: striped bed sheets, graffiti on the walls, coloured tiles. Forgotten places that are both embedded in the urban development but also isolated; magnificent structures that however carry with them a difficult past.

With the realization of this collection, Federico Cina wants to promote the beauty of Romagna heritage that today is risking to be forgotten.

The fashion movie describes a journey into the designer’s memories: from the salt mines and changing rooms of Pinarella to the lighthouse in Cesenatico, the protagonists are defenceless while assisting to the deterioration of the summer camps where they used to spend their youth. The presence of numerous textures and sizes is given by the combination of handmade knitwear pieces with other machine-made. The graffiti on the walls and the iconic grape take on a new shape. Once again Romagna’s history and culture are reinterpreted into something more modern and functional making the brand inimitable and unique.

The narration of the collection focuses on continuous back and forths between the present and past time, between the protagonists’ memories and everyday life. Through this constant search for equilibrium, Federico Cina shows how seeking refuge in the past is in fact very current.
