Findlay’s Blend of British and American Pop Shines in “It’s A Pleasure”

Hailing from the colourful town of Stockport, England, Findlay is determined to offer her audience something unique. Findlay began her career in 2007 as a sort of musical nomad, travelling around Manchester. However, she soon realized she wanted to pursue something deeper and more meaningful. Since then, her music has earned praise from influential outlets and has seen her share the stage with remarkable artists such as The Killers, Jake Bugg, Miles Kane, and more. Even during the pandemic, she didn’t slow down; in fact, the experience fueled her passion further. She collaborated extensively, produced incredible tracks, and is now ready to continue her artistic journey.

Findlay wrapped up 2024 with her cheeky single, “Juicy Fruit,” a perfect introduction to her sound. With its rich yet playful melody, the track was an easy favourite for listeners. Now, as we enter a new year, she has gifted music lovers with another fantastic addition to their playlists.

It’s A Pleasure” continues Findlay’s flair for tongue-in-cheek melodies. The song begins with a subdued tone, featuring her distorted vocals, before bursting into a lively explosion of sound. Its rhythm is playful and upbeat, with the title repeated several times to amplify the song’s exuberant atmosphere. What sets Findlay apart is her ability to seamlessly blend her undeniably British roots with elements of American pop. The result is a distinctive tune that grabs your attention the moment it reaches your ears.

Accompanying the song is a music video that feels like something plucked from 2 AM television in the 1970s. The retro aesthetic enhances the nostalgic and playful vibe of “It’s A Pleasure,” immersing viewers in a bygone era that perfectly complements the song’s quirky energy. By visually transporting the audience to another time, the video adds an extra layer of depth to the overall experience.

“It’s A Pleasure” is part of an upcoming, as-yet-untitled EP that Findlay is currently crafting. She describes the project as her most unserious body of work yet: “These are the songs I’ve written over this summer that I wanted to get out straight away. I’ve enjoyed the collaborative process of making this EP; it’s been very different from the last album I made in lockdown, which was a pretty isolated experience with some heavy subject matter. Recently I’ve been back to being in a playful, happy headspace and having a lot of fun making music. These tracks were mostly written between the English countryside and Los Angeles and took a lot of inspiration from those late 60s/early 70s British and American pop records that are deep in my musical DNA.”

More exciting music is on the horizon, with Findlay’s upcoming EP promising to keep the fun alive. This project is set to be a delightful exploration of carefree musical expression, blending her unique influences with a fresh, lighthearted perspective. As she continues to embrace collaboration and joyful creativity, fans can look forward to a collection of songs that capture her vibrant spirit. With “It’s A Pleasure” leading the way, this EP is sure to be a delightful addition to her discography.
