London’s multi-talented artist Giora just dropped their latest project, FREEWAY (EP), through their label Holypop, featuring the captivating focus track ‘LONG LIVE MUSIC’. Giora is a dynamic figure in the music scene—singer, songwriter, producer, performer, creative director, and sound artist—who has performed alongside luminaries such as Isabella Lovestory, Varg, Babynymph, and more. With accolades from high-profile publications like NOTION, CLASH Magazine, and Wonderland Magazine under their belt, Giora has impressed audiences at the CREEPY TEEPEE Festival in the Czech Republic, KWIA in Berlin, and the Bike Jesus nightclub in Prague. The artist’s experimental pop sensibilities have been showcased at various venues in London, including Gossamer Fog, Spanners, The Divine, and The Glory. Additionally, Giora has contributed sound installations to exhibitions at Rich Mix and Stanley Arts in London. Their label, Holypop, also hosts live music events that shine a light on the UK and European queer experimental music scene.

Giora’s musical journey began in North London, where they pursued classical piano, voice, and music theory as a child. By their teenage years, they were already writing and performing original music, even joining a band. A pivotal move to New York saw Giora studying orchestral composition at Juilliard, a foundation that enabled them to teach themselves electronic music production, leading to their debut release in 2020. Their 2023 album, It’s So Quiet But I Hear You, was celebrated by CLASH Magazine, solidifying Giora’s reputation for merging evocative melodies with innovative sound design and profound lyricism.

The FREEWAY EP dives deep into themes of existentialism, liberation, personal power, and truth. This six-track release expertly navigates the landscape of experimental pop, appealing to fans of Depeche Mode, SOPHIE, and Charli XCX. The project showcases Giora’s most intimate and authentic work to date, produced and mixed by Giora along with Czech producer Oliver Torr and mastered by Canadian composer Zac Tiessen.

Kicking off the EP, the title track invites listeners in with playful syncopated drums, psychedelic synths, and a pulsating bassline—a bold introduction to what follows. “EARTHQUAKE” delivers a powerful message of self-acceptance through an emotional journey, intensified by rave-inspired synths and expansive production. The track “POWER CANDY” strips down Giora’s bravado, revealing a more vulnerable side with poignant lyrics, a breakbeat-inflected hook, and an array of striking synths. In contrast, “GOD’S GIFT” presents a minimalistic approach, emphasising Giora’s vocal dynamics amidst simple soundscapes. ‘LONG LIVE MUSIC’, the EP’s highlight, celebrates the liberating power of music with its hypnotic melody and 80s-inspired synths. Closing with “IN THE END,” an unapologetic anthem embracing non-conformity, the track features an eclectic mix of breaks and experimental textures.

Giora reflects on the EP, stating, “This EP is a statement piece about freedom, truth and love. The freeway is a promise of openness, travel, connection. It is an expression of human nature. Freedom is yours to build not at the expense of anyone or anything else. The free way is acceptance, transformation and the ability to be exactly as you please…staying real and holding your own power and doing it with love.”
