GAZAL Drops New EP ‘HOW DO WOMEN FLY?’

Lebanese Australian alt-pop artist GAZAL releases her new EP, HOW DO WOMEN FLY?, marking the third chapter in an ongoing story of reclamation. Named to Rolling Stone Australia’s Fresh Sounds Class of 2026 and Live Nation’s Ones To Watch, GAZAL delivers a genre-fluid blend of defiance, vulnerability, and Lebanese heat across six self-produced tracks written between Sydney, Bali, and Los Angeles.

Where her 2023 debut I Accidentally Burnt The House Down lit the match and 2025’s Gods Into Frauds pulled men off their pedestals, HOW DO WOMEN FLY? leaves them behind entirely. The EP centres on decoding performative behaviour, unsolicited advice, and scripted apologies until those dynamics lose their power.

Speaking on the record, GAZAL shares, “My last project was me pulling men off the pedestal and HOW DO WOMEN FLY? is what happens once they’re down there and you realise you don’t have to stand around looking at them anymore. I started noticing that every man who ever made me feel small was running the same handful of scripts. The guy who explains how to cut an onion. The nice guy who’s only nice when someone’s watching. The apology that sounds like it came out of a greeting card. Once you can decode it, it loses all its power, and that’s the moment you lift off the ground.”

Created completely independently alongside running The Artist Studio Sydney, the EP showcases an artist in total creative control. GAZAL co-produced the record with Aidan Hogg, naebird, and Ryan Harvey, even choosing to keep track “Eat Dirt” for herself after six months on hold for Stray Kids.

Reflecting on the emotional scope, GAZAL adds, “The record is petty and funny and it’s also the most honest I’ve been. ‘Pick Up Truck’ is the one I can barely sing, and I wrote ‘Onion’ afterwards and the first line is ‘shut the fk up’. But the whole point is that you don’t have to choose between being soft and being sharp. I want women to hear this and feel like they’ve got a big sister in the car with them, telling them they’re not crazy, they’re just early. You learn how to read them, you hold yourself accountable, you wear it on your chest, and then you fly.”
