Germany Premiere! Kat Vinter´s new video “ISLANDS”

KALTBLUT is proud to host the Germany premiere of the new song and video from Kat Vinter. Shot in Portugal, the ‘Islands’ video is the 3rd from Kat Vinters ‘Islands’ EP. Dreamy pop music at it´s best. Kat Vinter released her debut EP Islands in April 2015 via Culvert Music in North America and AdP Records in Germany/Switzerland/Austria.

“I wanted to make a video that was not overthought, not over planned, rather an intuitive response to an atmosphere and setting no-body could predict. We flew to Lisbon as a small team, a director, a camera man, a photographer and myself, with no particular agenda but to capture some or any footage that we felt the power of immediately, and in response to a place we’d never connected with before. And we simply had an adventure. We drove along the coast and in the distance loomed a cliff covered in clouds. Most of the video is shot at this intriguing, mountainous, misty beach location and it seemed there and then the perfect visual mood and sentiment of ‘Islands’ emerged. The song itself is about the intuitive way I’ve lived my life so far. Traveling from city to city, creating music, and not holding on too tight to any person, location or situation. Islands is the process in which we intuitively follow the currents, in a journey of constant evolution.”

Kat Vinter was born out of the icy Berlin winter of 2012. The Australian nomadic songwriter retreated sometimes to the bunkers of local musicians, and sometimes to the smoke filled bars and pulsing clubs to think of lyric and melody ideas.

When Kat found local German beat master Hannes Büscher and a Norweigan poet Laila Samuels, the ongoing international search for meaningful creative connections and collaborations was fulfilled. “Kat Vinter” was to be the rebirth of Kat as a solo artist, having previously trawled the clubs, art and fashion parties of both the Sydney and New York underground as an indie band member for many years.

Between the urban creative hub of Berlin and a small cabin located deep in the woodlands of the Swedish border to Norway the team has since been crafting layers of hip hop inspired beats, tribal drums, waves of synths and aching ethereal vocals. Themes such as isolation, intimacy, fate, deception and obsession surface and re-occur. The result is a lush and mysterious soundscape of brooding, beat driven pop music with moments of darkness and light, beauty and tension.
