“Hair” embodies the unspoken interplay between individuals within the realm of fashion. It delves into the intricacies of being observed by a discerning audience. Within the context of Fashion Runway or Editorial, smiles are rarely approved of, a sentiment powerfully captured in this short film. However, feelings of rawness, fragility and vulnerability permeate the atmosphere. My fondness lies in the realms of serenity, neutrality and a certain emotional detachment that evokes a sense of namelessness even amidst visibility. This prompts contemplation on whether an audience can indeed possess omniscience in the absence of overt sentiment and reciprocal engagement. Fashion Imagery often masks one’s authentic essence, a phenomenon seamlessly translatable to everyday life, touching on themes of emotional repression, neglect, and ego. Hence, this piece, while rooted in fashion, holds substantial merit in conveying an individual’s intimate struggle with their emotional landscape.

Artist Biography :
“I’m a working-class creative director exploring visual arts through the intersection of Fashion and Fine Art. I was born in Blackpool, and grew up in the small city of York, where I intended to be a lawyer but instead chose to study a Foundation Degree in Art and Design. I continued to London where I studied BA in Fashion Communication and Styling at Middlesex University.
Through video and image, I weave personal narratives, touching on femininity, relationships, and raw emotions that hold value in moulding the conceptual development of my work. Dancers often grace my work, drawing inspiration from artists like Vanessa Beecroft and Merce Cunningham. Amidst all, fashion styling, runway and casting remain pivotal, infusing aesthetics into my creative work.
After graduating with my BA this year with a First, I am now living short-term in Scotland to explore a different lifestyle, meet different communities, and continue my work and research independent of the education system. I intend to continue collaborating and creating work, whilst learning new skills and relaxing after a long period of studying. As well as this, I continue to have creative work in London.”
