Thomas Camarero is a young Spanish photographer based in Paris. His main goal is to question gender and social inequalities through his work in the fashion industry.
This editorial is about opulence and obsession with the image that we want to give to others in the context of a consumerist and hierarchical society. Sometimes we are prisoners of a system in which success is mixed with material goods/possessions. Socially, a person who strives to earn money and live luxuriously is more rewarded than a person who invests the same effort in non-profitable activities such as mental health or emotional well-being. I’m not that rich takes to the extreme the cliché of a subject who obsessively invests his time and money in his own image to perform a form of luxury far from the reality of his everyday life and that is out of his reach.
