“Pippi would tell you: be yourself, dress as you like,
do what you want. Be who you are.”
“And so we did it, so we thought of it, irreverent, playful, witty, mischievous, wild, strong, carefree, at times always a child. Our reinterpretation of the protagonist of one of the most cult children’s series of the 70s.
We created this project by maintaining some recurring figurative elements in Pippi’s story. From socks to the horse in our case drawn, to pasta represented in the form of wool balls, to the desire for sweets and the ability to dream as in two particular shots represented by a pink cloud and in another set in the tub that becomes a mattress on a swimming pool. In the first set, the moment of waking up is represented, as a bit tiring for every little girl but we immediately show an irreverent, playful and extravagant attitude. In the second set, we play at representing a more daring Pippi in an almost all-pink bathroom, mischievous and uninhibited. And we bring back her characteristic hairstyle, the braids. In the third set, we represent with particular poses of the model the strength, the physical and mental elasticity and the propensity to look at things from different perspectives, with the figurative element of the magnifying glass as a symbol of research and imagination in the creation of the drawing, Pippi’s horse.”
“In the fourth set, we transform the iconic image of Pippi eating spaghetti with a clear reference to textiles, using balls of wool that replace the pasta. In a particular pose that recalls a very bold attitude in which a hand sinks into the spaghetti that is between the legs, we represent pleasure towards this world. Furthermore, in some frames we represent both Pippi’s strong appetite and the somewhat masculine attitude of the historical character, marking it by making her wear men’s shoes. In the fifth and final set, we represent the bond between Pippi and sweetness, between the marshmallow and the thought of a bath in a completely pink tub, where the imagination will make her feel like a diva. I can say that in the end once again thanks to Pippi we had a lot of fun, once again.”
