You know that feeling when you encounter something strange, you can’t stop looking? An experience that seemed out of this world, so bizarre it sticks in your head mesmerizing you for eternity. Well, that’s exactly how I felt when I watched Ivo Dimchev‘s latest video, SHOT.
Ivo is a well-known singer-songwriter, choreographer, actor, and theatre director. In the last 15 years, he has produced more than 40 dance theatre productions around the world. Known for his beautiful and diverse voice, his style is a force for controversy since he is also the author and composer of the musical “In Hell With Jesus”, which premieres in NYC’s LaMama Theater on November 2023. With more than 100 songs under his belt, his musical repertoire is huge and impressive. Fabled David Lynch (Twin Peaks, Eraserhead, Dune) himself praised Ivo‘s work, stating “This man has such a great presence and a remarkable voice, and I liked how you captured his generous spirit – something the world needs so much now. “For a while, I had the idea to make a music video based on a strange photoshoot taking place in different locations. One day I filmed the video and I hoped that it would fit some of my songs, and I have many many songs waiting for a video. I tried several tracks but nothing really fit the raw video footage. So I decided to write a new song which would fit the video and I wrote a song dedicated to all good photographers. Something as a love letter, or maybe a letter of gratitude to all these people who are making other people look and feel special with the photos they make. I think it was time already for someone to write a “thank you” song for all good photographers. So I took this sweet responsibility.”
Ivo‘s work might not be for everyone but I urge you to try it. Open your mind and let yourself be taken through this journey. I swear you won’t be disappointed. His music is unique and unlocks a whole new world of emotions. Listen carefully and you will be surprised by the range of feelings it can conjure up in you. Give it a chance and you won’t regret it.
