Kläder För Alla

A KALTBLUT exclusive. Styling and Direction by Julia Palm. Photography by Ted Whitaker. Model is Rob Tennent. Make up by Jade Spencer. Brands are JPalm clothing, Vague Jewellery, Shoes made by Lou Clifton.

“Kläder För Alla” a found-phrase captured through the window of a Stockholm thrift shop, hints to the designer’s heritage language of Swedish. “Clothing for all” is demanded. The model protests, a sense of inequity is felt in their vulnerable gaze, yet their presence is strong and unforgiving. Will anyone listen to their demands?

“Kläder För Alla” combines sport fabrics and sub-cultural references to contrast with the tailored silhouette. Noisy bleached denim, silk floating in darkness and fierce PVC chokers are quintessential elements used by designer and maker, Julia Palm. Constructing esoteric fashion in a project-based practice, JPalm is formed through self-manufacturing and hands-on textile development, unapologetically claiming space in an industry dominated by larger production models.

Informed by a strong alignment with a community of creatives in New Zealand, JPalm is driven by an ideology of considerate, slow fashion. This photo series presents a show of collaborators in the JPalm network; photographed by Ted Black, modelled by Rob Tennent, makeup by Jade Spencer and jewellery by Vague.
