La tête dans les nuages

In this shoot, Cairo-based fashion photographer and art director Mohsen Othman also known as Le Mosen captures women’s enigmatic, powerful, and mesmerizing nature. A KALTBLUT exclusive. Muse is Dr. Colleen Darnell.

As far as he remembers, Othman has always been fascinated by the beauty of the sky and the miscellaneous shapes of clouds. The intricacy of their tonal palettes always inspired the young photographer.

Throughout Art history, and especially during the Renaissance, painters used clouds as a theatrical backdrop. Othman tried to reinvent this use in his photography, giving it a contemporary twist. “I always admired chiaroscuro, the use of strong contrast between light and dark in Baroque paintings, and thought that using it in modern photography would give an interesting result,” stated Othman.

Inspired by the past but having his own vision, Othman depicts a fascinating creature by celebrating her singular femininity. Othman is bringing an equivocal character to life, a woman connected to her instincts and spirituality, and shares with us an ode to the undefeated power of women.
