BTS by Tamara Szabo. Video and edit by Alexandra Slepkovska. This upcycled capsule collection called “Layers” explores the emotional narratives we carry from childhood into adulthood. Inspired by personal memories and the invisible structures that shape identity, the garments are constructed from multiple layers of pieces, symbolising the protective roles we gradually build in response to expectations and experiences.
Shot across three locations in Berlin, the editorial visually contrasts childhood vulnerability with the architecture and atmosphere of the adult world. Each look represents a different stage of emotional development, gradually building layers that reflect protection, adaptation, and self-construction.
The shoot came to life thanks to the incredible international team.
“I am Alexandra Slepkovska, a Slovakian-born sustainable fashion and costume designer. I studied Fashion Design in London and then continued working in the industry for brands like Conner Ives, Toogood and many more. In fashion design, I hold my focus on upcycling designs. Since living in Berlin, I have shifted my focus to the costume industry, working mostly on films, TV, and commercial shoots. I am the designer of the capsule collection shot within this project, which is fully upcycled.”
