London Queer/Techno Underground by Matt Ford

Queer photographer Matt Ford continues to explore different forms of expression within the London queer scene. His latest studio project captures underground club scene costume designers, Marco and Ryan.

“We are Marco & Ryan. An architect and ceramicist from south Italy and a Liverpool archivist with a background in fashion and textiles.

We are creative and life partners and part of London’s techno/ queer nightlife. Nights like Inferno, Berlin Berlin, Kaos and Monster Queen are for us religious appointments to join our family of queer, creative, gender bending creatures. These are safe spaces where self expression goes beyond drag or dressing up and where the boundaries of fashion and body art are pushed night after night.

We see our individual point of view being very different but complementary. Where Ryan tends to play with sharp lines and tight shapes, Marco likes to indulge in the volumes and the surreal.

Ryan works from scratch with patterns and draping and Marco is specialised in reworking existing garments and building headpieces.”
