Chinese-Scottish artist LVRA, known for their multi-faceted talent, has just released a new extended package titled “soft like steel: reforged” via Eastern Margins. This collection offers a fresh take on their highly praised project, which was longlisted for the 2023 Scottish Album Of The Year Award. Consisting of five tracks, the EP includes four reimagined versions of soft like steel singles, along with an exciting new track called ‘pressure’. LVRA collaborates with the Welsh DIY alt-pop artist twst on this shimmering anthem, blending intergalactic elements with ethereal vocals.
LVRA shares their thoughts on ‘pressure’, describing it as a cathartic self-care anthem that reflects the shared experiences of both artists. The track showcases their synergy and shared hustler spirit, developed through therapeutic conversations.
The EP continues with a slow-building ‘Feel It Mix’ of ‘soft like steel’, a mesmerizing club record that pulsates and shimmers with energy. Renowned DJ and producer Aloka contributes a razor-sharp remix of the EP opener ‘welcome’, infusing it with industrial and captivating elements of UK techno.
Jensen Interceptor, the head of International Chrome label and a respected figure in the techno scene, presents an immersive and gritty electro interpretation of ‘soft like steel’, extending it to a captivating five-minute journey. Closing the EP is Sonia Calico from Taipei, who deconstructs ‘venom’ and transforms it into a pulsating global club record with captivating Jersey Club drum patterns.
LVRA recently completed an extensive tour of 14 cities in East Asia with their label, Eastern Margins, immersing themselves in the electronic soundscape of the region. Collaborating with local collectives, underground radio stations, and other artists along the way, LVRA continues to expand their artistic horizons, bringing their sound to a global stage.
In addition to the EP release, LVRA also shares a 7-track double-sided vinyl LP of their acclaimed EP “soft like steel”. This special edition also features original photography by Jeff Hahn.
