Since the release of her debut single “2x” in 2018, singer MATHEA can reflect upon years filled with significant achievements. However, lately, the artist has been venturing down increasingly individualistic and feminist paths, expressing herself through clear words rather than pop rhymes.

With chart successes, an Amadeus Award, millions of streams on Spotify, and collaborations with renowned colleagues such as RAF Camora and Clueso, MATHEA remarks, “I did everything to make it happen. There was already a strong vision.”
Recently, she has embarked on the next chapter of her career with the singles “Du + ich,” “Herz,” and “Summertime Love.” She has since made Berlin her new home.
“After my first album, I wrote around 100 songs, seeking to evolve and discover the sound I wanted for my second album. It will be heavily influenced by techno, dance, and hip-hop, but will remain pop,” she confidently states. Her word is law, whether in her brutally honest songs or the career decisions she makes. At only 25 years old, MATHEA has already achieved numerous milestones in her musical journey. From a girl in a tutu to a shoe saleswoman to a singer, to a businesswoman, this is the story behind Mathea in a nutshell. But there is so much more to her.
The Salzburg native released her first song at the age of 20, and what followed surpassed her wildest dreams. Her debut single, “2x,” shot to number one on all charts in Austria, and secured a place on the hit rankings in Germany. Soon after, gold and platinum records adorned Mathea’s walls.
Even at that stage, she was aware that she had to start making decisions: “What outfits should I wear? How do I present myself on red carpets? And what will be my next single?” The 20-year-old never wavered from her path and took full control of every step. The result: Austria’s most listened-to artist. MATHEA amassed well over a million monthly Spotify listeners, even though she had yet to release an album or EP at the time. She left her colleagues far behind.
Initially labelled a “One Hit Wonder” during her first Amadeus Award nomination, perceptions changed when she was subsequently nominated for the 1Live Krone in Germany for two consecutive years. And not as a “Newcomer,” but as the “Best Female Artist.” By the way, she keeps her Amadeus Award for “Best Pop” on display in her living room.
It’s no surprise that MATHEA has become a major topic within the music scene. Collaborations with top-tier artists such as Mark Forster, KC Rebell, Fourty, and Clueso quickly followed suit. She recently fulfilled a long-held dream by becoming part of Rap giant RAF Camora’s album “XV” with the song “Tränen.”
But MATHEA’s influence extends beyond her music. As her career as an artist blossomed, she also grew as a brand. After securing a deal with the Italian fashion label “Tezenis,” MATHEA’s image appeared on almost every billboard across Austria. She lent her voice to the “Magenta” campaign against online hate. With self-determined, unique, and sometimes provocative outfits, she also became a target for internet critics.
