Next up in our mixtape series is the formidable DJ Minx! As a key figure in Detroit’s electronic music scene since the early ’90s—alongside icons like Carl Craig and Kevin Saunderson—Minx has tirelessly championed the next generation of artists. She founded the groundbreaking all-female record label and collective, Women on Wax, and has been instrumental in curating the iconic House Your Life stage at the Movement Festival. Recognised by Mixmag as one of the “20 Women Who Shaped the History of Dance Music,” Minx has proven to be a beacon of empowerment. Since publicly coming out as a lesbian in 2021, she has emerged as a powerful role model and an African American queer icon within Detroit’s vibrant dance music culture, underscored by her mural at Detroit’s Ruth Ellis Center dedicated to the city’s queer community. Check out her latest single “Forget” below.
“For my Kaltblut mix, I blended tracks from the heart. Each is different, but they all mean love. There are a couple of new Minx beats in there as well. Enjoy!”
