Embarking on a Sonic Odyssey: Dualist Inquiry’s Fresh Mixtape and Artistic Journey

“After spending the last few months in album-land, it was quite refreshing for me to dive back into the DJ side of things. I ended up going with a selection of tight, shuffly and focused dance tunes while allowing myself a few creative liberties and unexpected “left turns” that felt quite spontaneous and exciting to me as I was mixing. There are a handful of recent and pre-releases and also some of my favourite, most dependable tracks from the last 6-7 months.”

Sahej Bakshi, the envoy of cultural innovation better known as Dualist Inquiry, stands at the thrilling frontier of his artistic evolution with his third opus, “When We Get There”. Anointed as the figurehead of Indian electronica, this maverick has carved his niche as a transformative force within the alternative music tapestry. His breakout 2013 record ‘Doppelganger’ vaulted him into the limelight, making him one of the subcontinent’s pioneering crossover phenomena. His latest work distils a spectrum of musical savoir-faire into an offering that is both deeply personal and unambiguously genuine.

Originating from a modest bedroom studio in New Delhi circa 2010, Dualist Inquiry has cultivated a proliferation of critical plaudits whilst forging an ardent cadre of supporters. Having shared stages with luminaries such as Bonobo and Fatboy Slim, graced festivals from The Great Escape in the UK to Ultra Seoul, and left an indelible imprint on India’s most esteemed music gatherings like the Magnetic Fields Festival and NH7 Weekender, he’s a venerated custodian of the underground scene.

Traversing over a decade of artistic metamorphosis—reminiscent of a whirlwind as per Dualist Inquiry’s summation—the avant-garde maestro has championed a distinctive voice amidst his meteoric ascendancy. Adherence to artistic sincerity and fidelity to his inimitable sonicity have been paramount, despite the whirlwind of his career’s ascent. His impending 9-track anthology, “When We Get There”, weaves a narrative that intertwines past and present, offering a comprehensive homage to Sahej’s evolution both as an artist and an individual.
