mx.pinky joins our mixtape series with a live recording of her 3-hour closing set at Outra Cena Lisboa. “It was my fourth time playing the club but the first time I’ve played this slot, so I was very excited to take over at peak hour and keep the dance floor going till the end,” she shares. “At a closing slot I can take things wherever I want to which gives me the freedom to really lean into the moment of the crowd. I delivered a 90s techno vibe with sprinkles left and right of bass, electro and hard groove… When you listen carefully you can hear the crowd cheer which is picked up by the tonearm of the record decks – personally the most rewarding feeling to listen back to a recording with moments like this. The fact that the tonearm carries the energy of the room is somewhat magical.”

mx.pinky is a German DJ and producer whose repertoire consists of genre-bending sonic seduction. With standout performances at Razzmatazz Barcelona, OHM Berlin, Outra Cena Lisboa, Rinse France, Body Language and Lunchbox Candy, mx.pinky has emerged as a rising international talent from Berlin’s vibrant nightlife. She’s been interviewed on KEXP Seattle for her work as the co-founder of trans* art platform @exude_records

Known for her sensual selection, hypnotizing blends and serving dancefloor exhilaration, mx.pinky’s DJ sets radiate an old school nostalgia through a fresh and contemporary lens. With over 10 years honing her craft and cultivating her vinyl collection, her expansive range extends from techno to bass, breaks, electro, house and beyond.

mx.pinky’s distinctive productions are percussive and bass-driven, influenced by her youth playing in metal bands. Her latest tracks include “Riot” on the Moss On A Stone compilation featuring JakoJako, Sepehr and more, as well as “Want Me” released on La Casita Berlin’s Pink Star 01. Unmatched, luscious and fearless – mx.pinky carves out space for a style all her own.

“This 3 hour set is almost entirely on vinyl so getting the tracklist together would be overwhelming since I mostly improvise on the spot. But there’s Shazam y’all :) If you can’t find a track try to reach out and build a relationship with the DJ and ask them directly. This art form used to be more interpersonal, encouraging connection through people having conversations about the tracks they are playing. Don’t be shy to slide into my inbox for track IDs and give me a follow.

Still I want to promote the artists I’m playing so people can buy our music and support musicians. Artists featured in the mix amongst many are Bastiengoat, ZDBT & DJ Venetta, K-Hand, Alarico, MoMa Ready, Anthony Rother, Bjarki, Sister Zo, Peder Mannerfeld, Jensen Interceptor, 1morning, Max Watts, Russell E.L. Butler, D. Dan, RITCHRD, PETERBLUE, Ennio and myself. Also the labels Key Vinyl and NIX are represented frequently in my sets and in this one. Go dig – it’s part of the fun!”

mx.pinky will soon announce the launch of their new record label, exude, which will showcase trans and non-binary artists from around the world. We’re excited to share that there will be a showcase at Outra Cena on July 12th featuring Alírio from Brazil, Lisbon-based MX, and mx.pinky on the decks. Additionally, exude’s inaugural records release in July will be a collaborative EP by Enana and mx.pinky, accompanied by a release party at ACUD Club in Berlin – keep an eye on their Instagram for all the details!
