“I’m a director and writer based in London. My practice often revolves around relationships with inner/outer selves in modern society and the ambivalence underlying alienated human existence. For this project, I collaborated with Gabriel Monteregge, a photographer and director who shares my fascination with translating myths through contemporary media into a new kind of magic.
‘Moloch’ is a multimedia project with photography at the forefront. It interprets the idea of a subtle armour, both literally and metaphorically. The subject identifies with the settings of a strange, industrial nature, desiring to withdraw from the ‘system vs individuality’ battle before their spirit and means of expression are crushed by unforgiving modern machinery. The video translates the poem ‘Moloch’ into the visual language of social media content using self-recorded snippets and low-quality camera footage to imitate an artificial sense of intimacy.”
