#MondayMood MADANII – ‘ROSEMVRY’

MADANII is stirring up the Berlin underground music scene after being included in Musikexpress’ Hotlist for 2018. With her unique combination of pop, RnB, electronic music and elements of her Persian heritage the young singer challenges stereotypes and confronts her audience with what the Western world deems foreign. With ‘ROSEMVRY’, MADANII puts out a catchy pop tune addressing communication problems in a relationship as her third single. Carefully woven into the bubbly chorus you can find the sound of a kamanche. An old Iranian string instrument, yet again proving how one can beautifully put together elements of different worlds that do not seem to be a great fit at first sight. ‘ROSEMVRY’s visuals put MADANII directly under the spotlight as she struggles to stay afloat from both emotional and physical restraint.

MADANII was supported by a scholarship from Musicboard Berlin in 2017 and was chosen for a residency in Teheran in collaboration with Goethe Institut and Bordermovement later this year. She got listed in the hotlist of Musikexpress, one of Germanys biggest and most influential music magazines for 2018, and already had airplay on major Berlin stations like Radio Fritz. Through her first EP ‘DO I LOOK DANGEROUS 2 U“ (coming September 2018) MADANII questions the norms, abnormalities and societal expectations that surround us on a daily basis. Her unique blend of Persian and electronic elements, combined with Alternative Pop tunes à la BANKS, influences from artists in the likes of SEVDALIZA and FKA Twigs results in a sound representing not division, but an organically grown product of different worlds.
