Multidisciplinary Convergence: The Chorus Fashion Theatre

During Berlin Fashion Week, the multidisciplinary fashion and cultural event The Chorus Fashion Theatre & Pop-Up, presented by Aianadi, took place at the Chaussee 36 gallery. Bringing together emerging and established designers, live performance, fashion theatre, and creative networking, the event was structured to explore how fashion can extend beyond standard presentation format to operate as a medium for narrative, dramaturgy, and human connection.

The program initiated with a curated Fashion Pop-Up showcasing independent designers and independent creative brands, establishing a direct retail and discovery space for contemporary fashion practices. This was followed by the central element of the evening, THE CHORUS Fashion Theatre, an immersive performance guided by the Aianadi Method—a multidisciplinary approach developed by Mariami Aianadi that utilises fashion, movement, and visual storytelling to investigate emotional and cultural themes.

Drawing structural inspiration from the collective body of the ancient Greek chorus, the performance explored concepts of control, transformation, identity, feminine consciousness, and liberation. The narrative arc traced a protagonist navigating emotional upheaval and separation, mapping a trajectory where structural destruction transitions into self-liberation. Through this performance format, the work examined how personal transformation alters individual movement, gaze, and inherited societal roles, utilising the garments as explicit vehicles for memory and emotion.

The evening continued with DEDA, meaning “Mother” in the Georgian language—a dedicated fashion performance utilising Butoh, movement, and visual storytelling to confront themes of inherited wounds, perfectionism, grief, and identity formation. This was accompanied by a live musical performance by violinist and composer Alexey Kochetkov under his experimental project 5 String Theory, which blends a five-string violin with digital electronics and contemporary neo-classical composition to bridge classical tradition and modern technology.

The event concluded with a dedicated networking gathering and afterparty, providing an intentional framework for artistic exchange and dialogue among designers, performers, media professionals, and the broader creative industry.
