The UK R&B landscape has evolved into one of the most vibrant, emotionally rich soundscapes in contemporary music. Stepping boldly into the centre of this movement is North London’s Nippa, an artist who has rapidly progressed from local staple to international contender. After shattering the independent scene with breakout projects like “INDUSTREETS” and “Hope She Hears This,” earning a MOBO Award nomination, and securing a spot on Billboard’s R&B Artists to Watch, Nippa is no longer just building momentum. He is claiming his space on the global stage.
With his Warner Records debut EP, “Homegrown,” the Tottenham singer-songwriter delivers a nine-track collection that seamlessly fuses R&B, dance rhythms, rap, and soul in a project that captures an intense year of soul-searching and personal evolution.
Nippa bridges his North London roots with a globe-trotting future, backed by a heavyweight roster of collaborators including Blxst, Jordan Ward, and stellar producers like KAYTRANADA, Pino Palladino, Lido, Don Mills, Camper, and KzDidIt.
The EP opens with “Talking to The Mirror,” an introspective introduction where Nippa immediately showcases his impressive vocal range and undeniable charm. The momentum continues on the single “Homegrown,” featuring South Central rapper Blxst. Bridging London and Los Angeles, the two artists exchange verses over a powerful beat, radiating effortless chemistry while celebrating their come-up stories with authenticity and flair.
His hometown connection remains paramount, with the title track “Homegrown” serving as the official soundtrack for Tottenham Hotspur F.C.’s 2026/27 uniform release, cementing a deep bond between his music and his community.
Elsewhere, “Just Vibe” lives up to its title with a seductive, playful melody that commands movement. “Kacey,” featuring Jordan Ward, delivers a glowing narrative on romantic tension. The emotional spectrum broadens even further on guitar-streaked cuts like “I’m Scared To Be Left Alone,” demonstrating Nippa’s willingness to lay bare his vulnerabilities.
The undeniable centrepiece of the EP is “Bittersweet,” produced by KAYTRANADA alongside Rance. The track stands as the project’s crowning moment. Built on a hypnotic hip-house groove, “Bittersweet” captures the friction between club-floor euphoria and internal conflict. Over lush, layered sonic textures, Nippa moves between ecstatic rhythms and self-reflection, questioning his own pace. Visually, the accompanying music video pairs vibrant party aesthetics with the weight of excess, examining how quick moments of indulgence eventually demand their toll.
Reflecting on the record, Nippa states, “‘Homegrown’ is about me staying true to who I am and where I’m from, no matter where I end up.” That commitment to truth gives “Homegrown” its soul. It is a celebratory yet complex coming-of-age statement from an artist who remains grounded in his origins while expanding his creative horizon across continents.
