Vlada’s practice is focused on self-portraiture, although she is also interested in photographing queer and female bodies. She is currently writing a PhD in photography.
“Noelle is a transfemme model and friend. I usually work with self-portraits; for this series, I wanted to photograph her like I photograph myself. I’ve spent the past year working in studios with large teams, but this series was shot in my living room on an April afternoon, just using natural light. The images focus on exploring the lines of the body in space, the vulnerability and strength of being looked at.”
