One To Watch: DAN0M00N + INGRATO

As the curtain on Berlin Fashion Week closed a few weeks ago, the sartorial set is left with the lingering vibrations of a finale that wasn’t just a show, but a testament to the power of transformative design. Amidst the kineticism of Studio183, the escalators became more than just mechanical contrivances; they served as moving canvases for an exhibition unlike any other, fused with an undeniable undercurrent of change. Enter the 7/11 performance and closing party—A Night of Reflection.

In this creative cauldron, designers @dan0m00n & @ingrato.cl launched the audience into a maelstrom of eco-conscious enlightenment. Their landmark collaboration, 7/11, a titling twist representing the fusion of their innovative collections named $3vEn & 11, crafted an immersive experience that left an indelible imprint on the collective consciousness. With a music performance by @d.grillen the event was one of our faves.

Defined by the ethos of upcycling, these collections shatter the mould, rejecting the disposable world for one where every thread counts—literally and philosophically. Merging artisanal integrity with environmental activism, the designers beckoned attendees to reckon with the notion that the future of fashion is inevitably verdant.

While both @dan0m00n & @ hail from diverse artistic backdrops, their mutual journey on the sustainable style avenue converges at a point of earnest expression and meticulous construction. Their pieces—a patchwork of past and promise—speak volumes in textural whispers and shout sustainability from the rafters of Studio183.

With A Night of Reflection: 7/11, the audience didn’t just witness a spectacle but participated in a movement, a jaunt on the escalator towards a zenith of eco-aware Living. This is the imprint of @dan0m00n & @ingrato.cl, a legacy etched not just in the memories of those present, but in the very trajectory of fashion’s responsible renaissance.

DAN0M00N

KALTBLUT: Tell me how you first became interested in fashion; and why you decided to become a fashion designer.

I woke up one day when I was a child and decided I would be a fashion designer, however, I was influenced by the many sewers in my family, such as my Abeula and Mother, also my Abuelos sisters were tailors.

My Father also is an architect and was constantly taking us to museums and to see buildings, so I was lucky enough to be around a lot of art from a young age. Playing games on the internet also influenced that interest, like paper doll dress-up games hehe

KALTBLUT: Tell me a little bit about your journey that led to you releasing your new collection.

Last year I was finally diagnosed with ADHD and when I finally started to take medication it was like a switch turned on in my brain and I said to myself “I’m just going to go for it now” in regards to my dream of having some type of brand and making weird clothes.

I had an idea of what I wanted to do for a collection, so I approached Ingrato to work together on producing a show as we always had such a nice vibe together and it’s much much nicer to work with someone on these types of things!

I told him about what I was working on and it all just meshed together so well and nicely and I think we killed it.

KALTBLUT: How would you describe your style and fashion?

I love so many different types of styles that I find it hard to describe them linearly. But I love to experiment!! Since I have always been a thrifter I would say that vintage clothing has always been a factor in my style in one way or another. ATM I am trying to push myself more to wear fun outfits, I just try to have fun and wear things that make me feel good and cute!

KALTBLUT: Are there any fashion icons who inspire your design?

Every new collection I try to have a muse who is inspiring to me. It’s been anyone from my best friends to modern icons such as Amanda Lepore or even historically important fashion icons such as Fanny & Stella from Victorian times.

KALTBLUT: What would you say makes your design stand out against other brands?

For me, it’s not so much about standing out but rather being authentic about what you like and what is important to you. For example, it’s important to me to create work from second-hand / deadstock etc. material for environmental reasons and this affects how I create work in every way, potentially being able to have something unique because of that. But I’d rather be in a community of designers who support each other’s work and just be true to ourselves as much as we can rather than stand out

KALTBLUT: Where do you find your inspiration for your work?

I find Inspo everywhere! What I usually try to do is just go for things that I’m super interested in at the moment. Because when I like something I become almost obsessed so designing is a great outlet for that. And from there just fill in the blanks with other interesting topics like movies or Icons or art etc! Whatever is naturally coming my way at the moment.

KALTBLUT: What advice would you give to people who want to experiment more with the clothes they wear?

I just realised that a good time to try out new fits is when you’re on vacation because you care so much less about what people think. But in general, I just try to push myself when I can try new things and just do whatever makes me feel good and cute!!!

KALTBLUT: What are your favourite pieces from your collection?

I love the pink dress and the purple skirt the most probably! Also all the bonnets and many of the bags! I also just loved the whole yellow look. So cute!!!! I was proud of everything I made though.

KALTBLUT: How would you describe the local fashion scene/industry in your home town/country?

Well, I have not been living in that area for 12 years now but at the time it was more of a less experimental place. There were always a few people who loved to serve looks but I wouldn’t say it’s a very fashion-focused place.

KALTBLUT: What does being an independent designer mean to you?

I’m not sure yet as I’m just at the beginning of my career but I do think in ways it means freedom to push boundaries and just to do whatever makes you happy! I’m sure it also comes with some struggles lol

KALTBLUT: If your brand was ice cream, what flavours would it be?

Cotton Candy and Rolo because actually, they are just my favourite flavours of ice cream heheh.

KALTBLUT: What was the last music track you listened to?

All Pink Panther songs atm I’m just obsessed with her!

KALTBLUT: Finally, what can we expect to see from you shortly?

More weird shit!!! I’ll keep releasing new work as much as I can but planning on doing some exhibitions/shows every fashion week.

INGRATO

KALTBLUT: Tell me how you first became interested in fashion; and why you decided to become a fashion designer.

The truth is that I’ve always wanted to work as a fashion designer, but my beginnings in the industry have always been a bit complicated because my studies focused on another branch of design that had nothing to do with fashion. Gradually, throughout my development as a professional, I was able to start acquiring some knowledge on how to develop clothing, which has led me to where I am now. There is still much to learn and understand in order to continue building my brand.

KALTBLUT: Tell me a little bit about your journey that led to you releasing your new collection.

Runway production is something that I am deeply passionate about; I relish every moment of it. Being able to develop collections that will be showcased as a performance is something I aspire to do for the rest of my life. Collaborating with Dan0m00n in this instance was truly wonderful because there were many aspects of fashion show production that I was unaware of, and thanks to her, I learned a lot of new things. It was a beautiful experience that I would love to repeat.

KALTBLUT: How would you describe your style and fashion?

I believe that each collection has different styles, silhouettes, and techniques, but I think their common point is chaos. The various colour palettes are purely based on the materials available to me at that moment, as the majority of them are second-hand or recycled. This approach helps to create a sort of visual coherence within this chaotic aesthetic.

KALTBLUT: Are there any fashion icons who inspire your design?

Anrealage and Martin Margiela are my icons.

KALTBLUT: What would you say makes your design stand out against other brands?

I could say that honesty is central to my process, as I’ve always sought to be transparent about my techniques and not disguise them with packaging, labels, or luxury marketing. My designs speak for themselves; there are long hours of work in each piece, and my goal is to create works of art that can transcend time and avoid becoming textile waste.

KALTBLUT: Where do you find your inspiration for your work?

Everywhere, from the street to video games.

KALTBLUT: What advice would you give to people who want to experiment more with the clothes they wear?

Dress for yourselves, not for others. Don’t seek validation from others about how you look; instead, try to find that identity within yourselves that you want to project into any reality you live in.

KALTBLUT: What are your favourite pieces from your collection?

Hand-knitted or crocheted pieces always fill me with joy simply because of the long hours of work put into them. However, in this collection, I attempted for the first time to incorporate more pieces made with fabrics. Nevertheless, my fascination with yarns and cotton spun into a textile piece immediately makes them my favourite pieces.

KALTBLUT: How would you describe the local fashion scene/industry in your home town/country?

This question is complex because I’ve been living outside my country for almost 5 years, so I can only speak about how it was when I lived in Santiago, Chile. The truth is, that the fashion industry has been slowly growing, but when I lived there, it was still challenging to emerge and exhibit or sell fashion designs. Despite the somewhat negative environment, I felt constantly inspired and surrounded by influences that motivated me to keep trying, even though sustaining a brand was very difficult and also dangerous.

I am deeply in love with the Chilean underground scene and its designers. In terms of aesthetics, I haven’t seen anything more original in the world. To be honest, I miss it a lot. It’s a scene with so much potential, yet it’s not recognized because it’s very hidden.

KALTBLUT: What does being an independent designer mean to you?

Being an independent designer in a country like Germany is challenging; it offers many opportunities, but limitations such as language barriers and bureaucracy make everything very difficult. In these 5 years living in Berlin, my progress has been slow. I arrived just before Covid, and since then, I’ve struggled to make headway and establish myself.

On the other hand, I’ve also been fortunate to showcase my work on many platforms, which makes me very happy. I’ve felt the necessary recognition to continue doing what I love. That’s why I’ll never give up on striving to make my brand completely sustainable and independent.

KALTBLUT: If your brand was ice cream, what flavours would it be?

All the citrusy and acidic flavours you can imagine.

KALTBLUT: What was the last music track you listened to?

MANON – come again

KALTBLUT: Finally, what can we expect to see from you in the near future?

This year I intend to focus again on the design of masks and balaclavas since it allows me to work on the circus aesthetic much better. I want to create better pieces full of carnival stimuli and from there create a clothing collection that truly represents the fantasy of the circus and chaos.
