This weeks One To Watch is the fashion house: LABEL2. Founded by Andrea Popovic from Bosnia and Herzegovina and Alen Pinku from Serbia. They met each other in Italy, both ready to cope with difficulties of living in a new surrounding- hostile and competitive city. I am a big fan of their design and fashion. And yes LABEL2 is one of my favourite labels at the moment.
Name: Alen Pinku and Andrea Popovic / Age: 32 / Country: Italy / Label: LABEL2 / Foundet in: 2010, but we started to work seriously in 2012.
KALTBLUT: Tell us something about yourself. Where you from? And how did you grow up?
Label2: We are 2, both coming from republics of former Yugoslavia. Working and living in Milan. We startedto work together during our studies but things get serious after our first show in Fashionclash.
KALTBLUT: You are based in Milan, what is the typical style of your country?
Label2: Milan means style, mostly. Also a fashionvictim can be trendy, so it’s completely different from our style, but we like it that way. This is our every day life inspiration.
KALTBLUT: How did you became a fashion designer? Was that something you always wanted to do?
Label2: Because uniqueness it’s what inspires us and yes, that’s what we always wanted to do.
KALTBLUT: Did you go to a fashion school?
Label2: We finished fashion design at the Academy of fine arts Brera, here in Milan.
KALTBLUT: What was the first item you have ever designed? And what for?
Label2: In the beginning every piece we made was special for us, even though this feeling never changed so it’s hard to choose one the most important.
KALTBLUT: Congratulations on your new collection! How long did you work on it for? And what was your inspiration?
Label2: We’ re glad that you liked it! The idea of this collection existed for a while, but finally afer months and months we have decided to show it during the Milan fashion week. For this capsule, inspiration came from the series of paintings of an artist called Ted Barr.
KALTBLUT: Tell us a little more about working with Ted Barr.
Label2: It’s been connecting fashion and art..taking the inspiration from his paintings and mixing it up with our shapes.
KALTBLUT: What kind of materials did you use for this collection? And what is your favourite fabric to work with?
Label2: We have used 3 different materials but all are connected through layering and details. The neoprene is always unexpected.
KALTBLUT: What we are missing in Germany is young, talented fashion designers getting government support. What’s your experiences in that field? Do you get support from your goverment/school or family?
