Photo Diary: Tamta

Tamta captivated the London crowd at her headline show at Colours Hoxton on Friday, May 2nd, unveiling a fresh chapter in her illustrious career. The pop visionary and fashion icon shares with us exclusive behind-the-scenes photos as she reestablished her connection with international audiences.

Her latest single, “KHORUMI,” is a masterful blend of eccentric electronic sounds and pop sensibilities, drawing inspiration from a traditional Georgian war dance. The track, featuring lyrics in both Greek and Georgian, is a standout from her newly released EP, “The Villain.” Produced by the notable Teo.x3—whose past collaborations include the likes of Prada, Dsquared2, and Camper—”KHORUMI” showcases Tamta’s evolution as an artist under her indie label, Kiki Music Group, distributed by Minos EMI/Universal Music.

Splitting her time between Athens and London, Tamta brings a unique perspective to her music and culture, echoing deep resonance with fans globally. The release of “KHORUMI” follows her unforgettable performance at Madwalk 2024, the esteemed event where music seamlessly intertwines with fashion. Known for her ability to redefine artistic boundaries, Tamta’s latest endeavours set new standards and ignite excitement among audiences and critics alike.

“The entire show offers a bold exploration of our dystopian reality with many different moments. It is inclusive, provocative, and non-stereotypical, serving as a source of inspiration for all team members—be they musicians, dancers, lighting designers, or sound engineers. London felt like home, and the reception was great! We will come back for sure. “

“The dancers accompanying me on stage are more than just dancers; They are carefully selected performers from various fields who bring a unique flair to the show.”

“For my first-ever live show in London, I appeared on the Colours Hoxton stage wearing this mask. It was custom-made with great care and crafted by @anthr0morph, reflecting a creative process we truly enjoyed. The design draws inspiration from my previous EP, ‘The Villain’, released last November.”
“The choreographies created by the choreographer and creative director Bill Roxenos are rarely symmetrical or clean; instead, they embrace a theatrical quality that varies from imposing to whimsical, and at times, intensely powerful”

“The show at Colours Hoxton was bursting with energy and impact, yet it also featured numerous heartfelt moments that evoked deep, noble emotions. Although most of the songs were in Greek, the feelings they conveyed were universally beautiful. This highlights the power of music: it transcends language barriers and communicates deep feelings, regardless of the lyrics.”

“The show was divided into two distinct musical segments. It began with songs from the albums ‘Identity Crisis’ and ‘The Villain’, focusing strongly on dark aesthetics. We then transitioned into tracks from the latest EP, ‘The Heroine’, where hyperpop elements take centre stage. Last but not least, we concluded with some of my biggest hits, along with carefully selected remakes of popular songs.”
“The show featured numerous outfit changes that complemented and enhanced the emotions we aimed to convey to the audience.”

Tamta’s career showcases a fearless artistic evolution and a commanding stage presence. With over 250 million streams and YouTube views, her previous single “ANAKATA” received more than 769k views. She has graced the pages of Vogue, Madame Figaro, and Marie Claire (Czech Republic), and collaborated with brands like Mugler, Adidas, and Converse. In 2019, she represented Cyprus at the Eurovision Song Contest, finishing 13th out of 41 countries, and embarked on a European tour, captivating 80,000 fans at PRIDE events in Barcelona and Madrid. Tamta also served as a judge on X Factor Greece and X Factor Georgia.
