Press Play: Kat Koan – SILLY ME

Berlin-based artist Kat Koan is back with her new single and video: SILLY ME. “The song was originally written for somebody who had forgotten to tell me that he was already married. the subsequent heartache was full-on, but it feels great to come out of that at the other end as a stronger person.”

“The video happened during the lockdown, I accepted hula hoop challenges for fun, like ‘eat spaghetti whilst hula hooping, dance naked on a rooftop’ etc.. and it then evolved into a community project with lots of women from all over Europe sending me clips of themselves hula hooping along to the song coz they related to its message. I collaborated with Berlin-based indie designer Lettau Art Fashion. She made the amazing white leotard, to make me look semi-angelic.”

Kat Koan’s debut album LUSTPRINZIP combined a lot of diverse influences that were laid out over the course of nine emotional, passionate songs. Now she’s back with her new single Silly Me, which is about overcoming toxic relationships. It was inspired by an ex-boyfriend of hers that forgot to mention that he was married.

The accompanying video was made during lockdown times and became a community project that stayed true to the message of the songs: get your head up and keep on keeping on.
