Press Play: Keir – Blood In The Water

Pop artist Keir released his “sadly defiant” new single “Blood in the Water” on October 15, 2022. “Blood in the Water” is the first harbinger of Keir’s forthcoming debut album, which is expected to be released in spring 2023.

The heartbreaking song is accompanied by an intense, angst-filled video directed by Harry Steel. “It’s about a particularly painful breakup during the first lockdown,” explains Keir. “I wrote it after coming to terms with the end of the world.” The track is marked by the imagery of impurity—blood clotting, clotting, bodies colliding—and dark metaphors of disease, lust, and dishonesty. When Keir sings ‘I don’t wanna show, that I’ve never been down this low…You spill your blood in the water’, it’s one of many moments that makes you emotionally weak.

The Bristol man already has huge and enthusiastic support from the likes of Wonderland Magazine – “Keir takes us straight into the future of music” – and Spotify playlists such as Duvet Day, The Lovely Little Playlist and BBC Introducing.
