Press Play: Léo Lalanne’s – ‘Dernière Danse’

Paris based multidisciplinary artist Léo Lalanne releases his cover of ‘Dernière Danse’ from an extremely popular band in France called Kyo (early 2000’s), giving it a darker and contemporary twist. As an LGBTQIA+ activist, Lalanne is donating all of his digital revenue to AIDES, a non-profit organisation fighting HIV in France, from the 13th of February until the 13th of May this year.

Léo is mostly produced by Apollo Noir, producer and artist, who is an ambient and electronic master. He is known for his poetry and use of spoken word. ‘Caïds’ (2019), his first single, was followed by a second one called ‘Allen’ (2019) that is a translation in French of ‘Song’ by the American poet Allen Ginsberg, who has always been a source of inspiration for the French artist and became the name of his first EP.

‘Garçon’ part of ‘Allen’, struck a chord in his audience, and became a remix made by the LA based artist Bapari who is known to turn hit songs into hardcore, dark techno such as ‘Thousand Miles’ by Vanessa Carlton, or tracks from Kelsey Lu.

Lalanne’s debut EP ‘Allen’ was released in 2020 during the first lockdown and his last single ‘Dévêtu’ was released last spring.
